2017 Rome 390 Boss Snowboard Bindings Review

This is our tech review for the 2017 Rome Boss Snowboard Binding. They’re a tried and tested, go-to binding for anyone who spends most of their winter on snow. So solid in fact, they come with a lifetime warranty! Featuring Romes super light and super strong alloy ratchets and signature alloy “UnderWrap Heel Hoops” the Boss is versatile and durable.

In previous models some riders complained that Rome had sacrificed flex for tough functionality. The binding was too stiff and rigid for the park and were pigeonholed as freeride specific. This has been addressed with the 2017 binding. It shows plenty of side to side flex in the highback and heel without giving away any of the heel to toe power that it’s known for.

You can steez out a super wide stance or counter an extreme banana rocker…

Some cool high end tech has been added to this work horse package including Romes signature V-Rod base plate and “Yes, I Cant Technology”. Rome offer a second base plate sole insert with a 2.5° canter so you can steez out a super wide stance or counter an extreme banana rocker and relieve the pressure on your knees. The Boss’s are also highly adjustable with customisation available at every fixing point on the binding.

These are marketed as the binding used by Rome team riders, and it’s easy to see why. With a happy medium of responsive power and forgiving flex, matched with industry leading durability. All for an incredibly reasonable $240 USD, why wouldn’t it be?
